Armored Pirate scan

Temporary scan

The Armored Pirate is a Space Pirate which appears only in the original NTSC release of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, solely at the Concourse in SkyTown, Elysia. The Armored Pirate is physically identical to the Armored Pirate Militia, suggesting that Retro Studios accidentally misnamed it, although scans say it is a different creature. This creature may also have been the original design of the Armored Pirate Trooper/Armored Pirate Militia during initial development, before being restructured.

After scanning it, the game will give the player a Red Credit (allowing for 109 total, rather than the game's usual maximum of 108). It has a unique scan entry, as well as a model (unusually, this depicts an Armored Pirate Trooper despite the in-game creature being a Militia), but it does not appear in the Logbook. [1]

Combat[]

An Armored Pirate behaves virtually identical to its "brethren". It fires blasts from its Assault Rifle and may perform rapid-fire from an aerial stationary stance. When at close range, it will swing its scythe in two sweeps before retracting it. At mid-range, it may perform a slashing leap directly aimed at Samus. An Armored Pirate sometimes performs a taunt (resembling the Hypermode animation).

Battle Statistics[]

Veteran Mode

Attack Damage Output
Contact damage

10 HP
Assault Rifle

3 HP per round
Energy Scythe*
Center
20 HP, slight knockback

*Oddly at times, the scythe may not harm Samus at all, appearing mainly as an aesthetic. The damage delivered during scythe attacks primarily stems from contact damage.

Some Space Pirate units are now equipped with a durable battle armor that provides resistance to most Beam weaponry. The armor is susceptible to explosive attacks, however. Shatter it to expose the target to Beam damage.
