[edit] Overview
The BSL research station was home to various creatures from planet SR388 as well as many researchers. It appears to be a hollowed out asteroid with a docking ring around the widest area of the asteroid. There are seven areas of the station.
While the Main Deck is related to the station, Sector One represents the ideal Metroid-breeding environment on SR388, whereas the other sectors pose a problem. It is currently canonically unknown whether the remaining five sectors represent habitats on SR388 or are simply stereotypical habitat patterns used to research creatures from other planets. Accordingly, each sector houses different species.
[edit] X infestation
When Samus Aran was attacked by an X Parasite on SR388, she was transported to Galactic Federation HQ. There, her Power Suit was surgically removed and transported to the research station. However, while in the Quarantine Bay, the Power Suit pieces formed together to create the SA-X. The SA-X used a Power Bomb to escape the Quarantine Bay, causing all the X to be released. As a result, everyone aboard the station and all the creatures were infected, save for a small group of Etecoons and Dachoras.
Samus is sent to investigate the explosion. She soon learns that all humans and creatures on the station have been infected with the X. She sets out to exterminate the X, even if it requires her to destroy the station and herself.
[edit] Metroid breeding program
As Samus explores the station, she comes across a Restricted Lab. Here, she learns that the Galactic Federation has been using the station for a secret Metroid breeding program. However, an SA-X manages to lock down the lab and cause it to self destruct, ultimately destroying the program.
[edit] Destruction
The Galactic Federation plan on using the X. However, Samus is strongly against this as she knows how dangerous they are. So she sets the station to crash into SR388 to rid the universe of the X. As Samus leaves the station after confronting both an SA-X and an Omega Metroid, it crashes into SR388, destroying the research station, the planet, and all the X aboard.
