The Block Shifting Glitch, also known as the Select Glitch, is a glitch in Metroid II: Return of Samus that allows Samus to move blocks. However, she can neither control which blocks will move nor where they'll move. It is done by rapidly pressing the Select button over and over again while moving, which causes the screen to scroll. It is very useful to reach Secret Worlds and for Sequence Breaking. It has limited use in speedruns.
A demonstration of the glitch can be found here.
