Charybdis is a planet in the Messina star system, and a focus of the Blood of the Chozo story. Tyull Hovan is the news anchor for Charybdis VidNews. The Nextima space station orbits Charybdis. Messina was invaded by the True Chozo years after the defeat of Mother Brain "and shortly after the attacks began, Charybdis was cut off from the rest of the system by an immense subspace distortion field."

From the Writers...Edit

The cities Scylla A and Scylla B are both mentioned in Nintendo Power. Surviving text from writers indicates that while Scylla A is on the planet Scylla (as stated in Nintendo Power), Scylla B is on Charybdis.

  • Charybdis (in Greek, Χάρυβδις) was a mythical sea monster, once a beautiful naiad and the daughter of Poseidon and Gaia. She takes form as a huge bladder of a creature whose face was all mouth and whose arms and legs were flippers and swallows huge amounts of water three times a day before belching them back out again, creating whirlpools. It is best known for its appearance in the Odyssey, where it and Scylla take both sides of a river.
