Concept art by Sammy Hall for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption depicts a special Chozo Research & Development Division of the Galactic Federation. This division appears to be researching the advanced Chozo Power Suit and technology of Samus Aran, a Bounty Hunter often employed by the Federation, possibly in the hopes of replicating it for their military. The experimental armor, though it resembles Samus' is much bulkier, slightly resembling her "chibi" appearance in the original Metroid game. The artwork states that the suits are an mk-5 prototype that are non-functional. This suit is not featured in the game, so it is unknown if they were a scrapped element or just concept artwork. However, the designs are similar to the Mech suits worn by Federation Marines in Metroid Prime: Federation Force, so Hall's designs may have served as an inspiration.
In the gamesEdit
Metroid: Other MEdit
The Freeze Gun and Plasma Gun of Metroid: Other M may be Federation attempts to copy Samus' Ice and Plasma Beams. The Freeze Gun seems to be very powerful compared to the Ice Beam, since it was seen completely freezing a Magdollite solid, and one shot disabled Samus' Power Suit (though it could be argued she was distracted at the time). The Plasma Gun is powerful, but takes "forever to charge" while Samus' can charge in seconds.
In Metroid Fusion, Samus can restore many of her Suit upgrades through Data Rooms. Terminals in these rooms allow Samus to download many of her Suit systems to her Fusion Suit, which are provided by the Galactic Federation. These upgrades perform very similarly to her older upgrades, though are different in appearance. This suggests the Federation has perfected the ability to copy Samus' technology by this point.
The Space Pirates have made attempts to replicate Samus' weapons and armor, with some success, but not without drawbacks. In Metroid Prime, the Pirates reverse-engineered Samus' beam weapons and created the Trooper Pirates. However, their beams were not as potent as Samus' (they could not freeze, burn or electrocute her) and their armor was weak to Samus' version of the very weapon they were using. The Pirates also attempted to copy the Morph Ball, but these experiments proved disastrous and were abandoned.
