Crawltanks are light defense drones used by the Space Pirates. They can be retrofitted with multiple types of beam weapons. However, they are fragile, and are better suited for patrol and security missions rather than combat missions. They can enter Hyper Mode. Despite their names they are not at all similar to real life tanks.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption: "Crawltanks are mobile, ground-based defense drones, but are easily destroyed by standard weapon fire. They can be equipped with different cannons, including a Phazon Beam system. They are not built for sustained combat, and are better suited for light patrol and security roles."
