The Cretaphid v2 is a second variant of the Cretaphid. Like the original, it is a tower with red and blue nodes adorning it. The nodes cycle through, alternating from red to blue. As with the original, only the blue nodes can be destroyed. Unlike the original, though , it can fire a blast of green, heat-seeking plasma from each of the red nodes. When all of the nodes on the tower have been destroyed, the core of the Cretaphid rises up and fires blue energy blasts at its attacker. Eventually, it sinks back down and the nodes regenerate. The plasma balls fired by the red nodes can be either dodged or shot in mid-air to drop power-ups.
This mechanical structure was built as a guardian for precious Alimbic artifacts. Once destroyed, the Octolith it guarded is revealed.
