The Darkling Tentacle is an Ing that is essentially a long tentacle that protrudes from walls, most commonly in narrow corridors. They are apparently native to Dark Aether. When another life-form approaches that the Darkling Tentacle perceives as a threat, it will begin swinging wildly to repel the foe. Like most Ing, they dislike bright light, and a bright flash near them will cause them to retract back behind the wall, allowing passage. According to the Logbook, there is no way to kill them; however, a charged Light Beam or Annihilator Beam may destroy these creatures, but the chance of success is very low. Darkling Tentacles are very fast and are hard to hit even with the Power Beam. Their behavior greatly resembles that of the Reaper Vine from Tallon IV, but there is no evidence whether the species are related or not.
