"Go for it, Samus!! You're our hero!!"

The subject of this article was created by Metroid fans.
It is not considered an official Nintendo-licensed part of the Metroid franchise. All story elements are non-canon.

These are the items found in all areas of Another Metroid 2 Remake.

Main Caverns[]

Missile Tanks[]

Missile Tanks 1 and 2[]

These two Missile Tanks are found in a tall room hidden by Bomb Blocks in one of the first of these lava-filled caverns. The first Tank can be found in the bottom right corner in a small tunnel, obstructed by a Bomb Block. The second Tank is harder to reach, as the "platforms" that would allow Samus to reach it are actually Pit Blocks, requiring the Spider Ball to prevent them from breaking and then Bomb Jumping between each block.

Missile Tank 3[]

From the tunnel leading directly to the Hydro Station, above the lava that blocks the way to the Industrial Complex. Using a Bomb on he wall on the right reveals a secret chamber. The ground of this chamber is lined with spikes, as are the walls, and there are five small platforms in the air, which are actually Pit Blocks, albeit they don't crumble instantly. The Missile Tank is on a ledge on the top right of the room. The Hi-Jump Boots are required to feasibly reach it.

Missile Tank 4[]

In a room full of tunnels near the shafts leading to the Mining Facility. This Tank is hidden in part of the rocky tunnels, next to small stalactites.

Missile Tank 5[]

In one of the tunnels with purple rock visited after the Research Site, there is a small "hill" formed out of ground rock. By building up speed and Shinesparking from the top of the hill through the ceiling, Samus can reach this Tank in a small chamber within the wall. The Tank is on the left in immediate view.

The Golden Temple[]

Upgrades[]

Bomb[]

Below the first part of the large cavern, in a small chamber after a corridor filled with Wallfires. This is where it was in the original Metroid II.

Charge Beam[]

The Charge Beam is located where the Ice Beam was in Phase 2 in Metroid II. Inside the central structure of the ruins, Samus must descend the second shaft on the right, and enter the bottom left corridor. Through here is the Beam.

Spider Ball[]

Exactly where it was in Metroid II. Samus must proceed to the far right end of the central area and enter the small cavern leading downward. The Spider Ball is in a tunnel in a chamber with tendrils.

Energy Tanks[]

Energy Tank 1[]

In the corridor from the right side of the shaft leading to the Bombs, Samus must lay a Bomb against the wall above a Wallfire and then lay another Bomb in the tunnel. There is a switch inside a hidden chamber that she must shoot. Doing so will reveal this Tank in the other side of the room.

Energy Tank 2[]

This Energy Tank is new to AM2R. It is present in the same room as Missile Tanks 2 and 3, hidden inside the wall in the center of the corridor. To reach it, Samus must shoot three switches above Missile Tank 2 in the correct order: right, left, center. A platform will then lower, allowing her to enter a Secret Passage that leads to this Tank.

Missile Tanks[]

Missile Tank 1[]

In the same room as the Bombs, clearly visible underneath the Chozo Statue. Bombing the second rightmost block on the floor below it will allow Samus to access this Tank.

Missile Tanks 2 and 3[]

Both of these Tanks are in boxed-in areas on either side of the room. Samus must shoot at the left side of the box for the first Tank, and either side of the second's box. Energy Tank 2 can also be found here.

Missile Tanks 4, 5, 6 and 7[]

These can be found in the bottom right corridor connecting to the shaft that leads to the Charge Beam. The first three can be obtained without any extra items, but the final one requires Bombs. Tank 4 is located under a platform, the right side of which has a hidden entry. Tanks 5 and 6 can be obtained by shooting Fake Blocks. Tank 7 is obtained by using Bombs to reach it. Under this Tank are several Pit Blocks allowing Samus to get back down.

Missile Tank 8[]

Found on a ledge at the very top of Power Up Cavern above the central structure, where a Big Energy Ball and Missile Battery were in Metroid II. Samus must scale the walls using the Spider Ball to reach it, taking care to avoid Gulluggs flying in a circular motion. Alternatively, the Tank can be reached using the Turbo Bomb technique.

Missile Tank 9[]

In a room above where the Ancient Guardian is battled, which can only be accessed after its defeat. This Tank was not present in Metroid II. Samus must Bomb through three platforms above her to reach this Tank.

Super Missile Tank[]

In the shaft leading to the Charge Beam, Samus must bring a power cell from the Distribution Center from the top of the shaft to the bottom. Once inserted into a socket, a door on the right will open. Through here is a room with numerous tunnels and paths. A series of difficult Shinesparks are required to reach this Tank in the bottom left corner of the room.

Power Bomb Tank[]

In a room above where the Ancient Guardian is battled. Samus must have the Power Bombs to reach this Tank as it is blocked by a Yellow Hatch.

Hydro Station[]

Upgrades[]

Spring Ball[]

As with the original Metroid II, the Spring Ball is obtained by defeating Arachnus in its room.

Wave Beam[]

Entering the middle of the structure, Samus will discover an Alpha Metroid chamber. She can use a tunnel that will lead her to a water pipe she can drop down. Upon falling on top of a Morph Ball launcher, Samus must roll to the left and lay a Bomb on the left wall. She will enter a tunnel with two turbines that will spin her around constantly. Samus must lay Bombs until she opens a route out of the turbine, and then repeat with the second. Through here is a corridor with a Red Hatch, behind which is the Wave Beam.

Varia Suit[]

Using the Morph Ball launcher inside the station accessible after defeating an Alpha Metroid (see Missile Tank 8 below), Samus will come to a Chozo Statue room, but find that it does not contain an Item Sphere. Samus must lay a Bomb behind the statue to reveal a secret chamber behind it with numerous Item Sphere-like objects, which can only be destroyed with Bombs. The Varia Suit is inside one of these objects, at the very bottom of the pile.

High Jump Boots[]

After collecting the Wave Beam and returning to the launcher room, Samus must continue right, through a wall of Bomb Blocks, and enter the shaft with midair pillars. Dropping down, she will see a wall of Fake Blocks blocking an entrance on the middle right. Through here is another shaft with retracting platforms and Wallfires. At the bottom left of this shaft is a Red Hatch. The Hi Jump Boots are found in here.

Energy Tanks[]

Energy Tank 1[]

In the room with the Hi Jump Boots, Samus must lay a Bomb on the floor below the Chozo Statue and then Bomb the bottom left corner. She will enter a chamber where this Tank, as well as Missile Tank 7 are in full view.

Energy Tank 2[]

This Tank is found in the Breeding Grounds. After descending the long shaft of this sub-area and continuing right, the Tank will be found in a room to the left underneath the floor, inside a wall. The tendrils here will cause minor damage to Samus if she does not have the Gravity Suit.

Missile Tanks[]

Missile Tank 1[]

Perched on a rocky ledge adjacent to the main station. The Spider Ball is needed to reach it. Alternatively, a Turbo Bomb or the Space Jump can be used.

Missile Tank 2[]

In a tunnel within the station. It can be seen, but not obtained, near an Alpha Metroid chamber. To access it, Samus must find a tunnel on the right side of the main station in the area's large cavern. This tunnel leads to the Missile Tank.

Missile Tank 3[]

In the room before the Varia Suit, Samus must lay a Bomb on the highest part of the right wall, to access a system of water pipes. These pipes will flush her around in a cycle. She must quickly exit one open stream of water to the right in order to reach this Tank.

Missile Tanks 4 and 5[]

After collecting the Wave Beam and returning to the launcher room, Samus must continue right, through a wall of Bomb Blocks and descend to the bottom of a shaft with multiple pillars in midair. Entering the room on the left, Samus will be accosted by Autracks and an Autoad. Both Tanks are in boxed-in areas in the ceiling and floor. To reach Tank 4, Samus must use the Spider Ball and lay a Bomb on the left side of the pipe enclosing the Tank. To obtain Tank 5, she must lay another Bomb underneath the entrance step, and then proceed through a small tunnel under the floor. Laying another Bomb will bring her inside the boxed-in area where this Tank is kept.

Missile Tank 6[]

From the corridor containing Missile Tanks 4 and 5, Samus must descend a short shaft and then enter another corridor. The Tank is in immediate view underneath a set of pipes. Laying a Bomb in front of it will allow Samus to collect the Tank.

Missile Tank 7[]

In the same room as Energy Tank 1. It can be obtained by laying a Bomb to destroy part of the pipe encasing it.

Missile Tank 8[]

On the left side of the station is a pool of water. There is a dam underwater that, when destroyed with Missiles, will drain the water and allow Samus to access another part of the station. This Tank is found in the room following immediately after the dam, which contains spinning blades that can be destroyed to drain the water further. The Tank is hidden inside the ceiling, obstructed by a Bomb Block. The Spring Ball or Spider Ball can be used to destroy this Block and access the Tank.

Missile Tank 9[]

After collecting Missile Tank 8, the next room has another Missile Tank inside the ceiling directly above the water. Samus must move along the ceiling with her Spider Ball, up a slope of sorts, until she reaches a tunnel. This Tank can be acquired before fighting the Alpha Metroid in the room.

Missile Tank 10[]

In the massive cavern on the left side of the Breeding Grounds, containing an Alpha Metroid, Samus must build up a speed charge on the floor, going all the way to the left end of the room. Then, she must stand on the second highest of the three platforms there, and Shinespark upward. She will blast through the ceiling and into the same room as the Hydro Station's only Power Bomb Tank. The final Missile Tank is in a pathway above.  Unless you have the Screw Attack, you are unable to get out of this area.

Super Missile Tank[]

This Tank is hidden near the Breeding Grounds in a tall shaft. The Distribution Center must be active for this to be obtainable. Samus must ascend this tall shaft, which gets narrow towards the top, and contains spikes and Tsumuris. A power cell is found up here. Samus must bring it to the bottom of the room with her Bombs, and insert it into its power socket. A door above her will open. To reach the Super Missile Tank, Samus must use her Speed Booster (first clearing an obstruction of Super Missile Blocks) to run across parts of the floor that are made of Pit Blocks, and then breach a Boost Block wall, behind which is the Super Missile Tank.

Power Bomb Tank[]

On the left of the Breeding Grounds shaft is a wall made of Screw Attack Blocks. Samus must use the Screw Attack to breach the obstruction, and then run across a floor made of tendrils. By this point she will likely have the Gravity Suit, so it will not be harmful. At the end of this run is the Power Bomb Tank behind a wall of Power Bomb Blocks. All Samus needs to do is lay a Power Bomb to obliterate the wall and claim this item.

Industrial Complex[]

Upgrades[]

Space Jump[]

Where it was in the original Metroid II, at the summit of the large structure on the right side. However, immediately after collecting it Samus will have to battle a Torizo.

Speed Booster[]

Below the shaft where a Gamma Metroid is fought (containing Missile Tank 4; see below), Samus must enter the left hallway and destroy Missile Blocks above pillars made of Boost Blocks. The Speed Booster is through here in an item room.

Spazer Beam[]

From the inside of the central structure, Samus must descend the shaft and then enter the door on the bottom left, proceeding into a room with Autracks and TPOs. At the end of this room is a Red Hatch, through which the Spazer Beam can be found as it was in Metroid II.

Super Missiles[]

In the last room of the Industrial Complex, after the Autoad puzzle. Above the Cordite crystal, Samus will come to a ledge that ends in a series of Pit Blocks. The first Super Missiles are in a Chozo Statue's hands beyond this. To leave, Samus can use a Super Missile to destroy the Cordite.

Energy Tanks[]

Energy Tank 1[]

Halfway up the right side of the central structure is a tunnel leading into it, above Missile Tank 4 (see below). This Tank is blocked by a Missile Block. Samus must crouch before the tunnel and fire a Missile there to reach the Tank. Directly under the Tank is a Bomb Block obstructing a tunnel that leads to Missile Tank 4.

Energy Tank 2[]

Deeper into the Industrial Complex, in a room with an Alpha Metroid. Behind it is a conveyor leading to spikes on the left. With a carefully timed jump, Samus can reach the Tank above. The Speed Booster is required to get to the area with this Tank, but is not needed for the actual item.

Missile Tanks[]

Missile Tank 1[]

In the entrance shaft of the area, this Tank is in the first alcove on the left, blocked by Fake Blocks.

Missile Tank 2[]

This is found in the massive chamber at the center of the complex. At the bottom left is a floor made of sand. Samus must shoot through this sand until she reaches the ground. The Tank will be in a tunnel on the left.

Missile Tank 3[]

Entering the central structure of the Industrial Complex, Samus will drop down onto a pile of sand, blocking a tunnel in the left wall. This Tank is hidden in the sand on the floor, and can be accessed by shooting the sand.

Missile Tank 4[]

See Energy Tank 1 above.

Missile Tank 5[]

In the shaft where a Gamma Metroid is fought, this Tank is found in the ceiling. A Shinespark is required to reach it. In the shaft below, Samus must build up a charge and then Shinespark from the top of the small mound of sand in the center platform of the room below the shaft. She should then blast through the ceiling into a secret tunnel, containing this Tank.

Missile Tank 6[]

This is found in an internal room with a conveyor belt in between a spike-lined wall and a wall of Boost Blocks. After breaking through the Blocks, Samus must build up a charge and then Shinespark through part of the ceiling near the exit. This Tank is in a tunnel inside the ceiling.

Missile Tank 7[]

Deeper into the Complex, this Missile Tank is inside a large room with a slope and a short shaft in front of it. Samus must Shinespark into the wall on the right; the Tank is inside.

Super Missile Tanks[]

Super Missile Tank 1[]

In the large "slope room" (see Missile Tank 7 above), this is found in the floor in front of the slope. Super Missiles are required to break through the Super Missile Blocks in the ground, which reveals a tunnel. An Autrack can be found in this tunnel, but it does not pose a serious threat. At the end of the tunnel in a chamber is the Tank.

Super Missile Tank 2[]

In the dimly-lit, breeding area underneath the Industrial Complex is a large chamber. Samus must shoot the ceiling and build up a speed charge, then drop back down and Shinespark to the right. She will blast through a wall and reach this Super Missile Tank.

Power Bomb Tanks[]

Power Bomb Tank 1[]

At the top of the entrance shaft are two destructible walls leading in different directions. On the right, made of Fake Blocks, is the entrance to the overall Industrial Complex. On the left, made of Super Missile Blocks, is a room with an unreachable tunnel. To make use of this room, Samus will need to have activated the Distribution Center and acquired Power Bombs. A power cell will be in this room, out of her reach. She can fire Missiles at the ceiling under the cell to move it, and must use a Power Bomb to destroy obstructions. Once the cell has entered its socket, a door will open and Samus can collect this Power Bomb Tank.

Power Bomb Tank 2[]

The second Power Bomb requires a difficult Shinespark. From the top of the central structure, Samus must build a speed charge and then quickly jump to a ledge on the top right, and then Shinespark through a Green Hatch (which will need to be opened beforehand, of course). She will land on a slope, allowing her to recharge her Shinespark. Samus must then quickly lay a Power Bomb, drop down from the ledge, and Shinespark or speed run to the right. She will breach a wall of Boost Blocks, behind which is the final Power Bomb Tank. A demonstration can be found here: [1]

Research Site[]

Super Missile Tank[]

In the last room of the Research Site, this Tank can be found wedged between Galactic Federation crates. After it is collected, two Alpha Metroids will attack Samus in the previous room.

The Tower[]

Upgrades[]

Plasma Beam[]

This item cannot be accessed until the power to the Tower has been restored, and the Tester has been defeated. From the room connected to the top of the tall shaft in which the Tester was fought, Samus must ascend the tunnel in the wall and then lay Bombs under the Red Hatch above. The Plasma Beam is in the next room.

Power Bomb[]

This item is found in the generator room of the Power Plant sub-area, which is only accessible after the lava is drained. It is in the hands of a Chozo Statue at the end of the room.

Energy Tanks[]

Energy Tank 1[]

Inside the Dark Chamber, Samus must follow the tunnel to the right side. From here, there will be a shaft that Samus can ascend. It leads to a small alcove in the Grand Cavern underneath the top of the Tower, which contains this Energy Tank.

Energy Tank 2[]

The second Energy Tank is only accessible after the Power Plant has been destroyed. It is inside a corridor not accessible before the power cell explosion, in the hands of a Chozo Statue. This corridor is at the bottom of the ruined shaft, underneath three floors.

Missile Tanks[]

Missile Tank 1[]

A couple of rooms before the Tower is a large chamber with lava at the bottom. The first Missile Tank of the Tower is hidden behind a wall made of Boost Blocks. Samus must build up a speed charge in the previous room, and then jump down and Shinespark to the right, being careful to avoid Pincher Flies. The Tank is submerged in lava. If Samus does not have the Gravity Suit she will take some damage, but that Suit is not required to obtain this Tank.

Missile Tank 2[]

The second Tank is in the Grand Cavern, within the cave ceiling above the Tower. Samus must use the Spider Ball to reach the ceiling, and then lay Bombs along it near the top left corner of the room. A tunnel will be revealed, which contains the Tank. A Pit Block directly under it will drop Samus down.

Missile Tank 3[]

At the top left of the Tower is a drop shaft hidden by two Fake Blocks. This Missile Tank is inside the Dark Chamber. A visual demonstration of the route needed to access it can be seen here: [2]

Missile Tank 4[]

This Tank is hidden in the Grand Cavern on the right side of the Tower, at its base. However, to safely access it, the lava must be drained by killing all Metroids in the area.

Missile Tank 5[]

This Tank is found in the same corridor as Energy Tank 2. In front of the damaged door, Samus must Shinespark upward, and then fire a Super Missile diagonally to the left above her to destroy a block. The Tank is in a tunnel above.

Missile Tank 6[]

Starting from the base of the Tower (entrance side), Samus must Screw Attack through the cave wall on the right. This Tank is found afterward, at the bottom of a short shaft. The room connects to a Morph Ball launcher that will launch Samus up to the Hydro Station.

Super Missile Tank[]

After entering the Tower from the right side, this Tank is found after dropping down a Morph Ball shaft, guarded by a Power Bomb Block.

Power Bomb Tank[]

Coming from the left side of the Tower, Samus must fall to the bottom once the lava has been drained and lay a Power Bomb against the cave wall on the far left. The second Power Bomb Tank is in here.

G.F.S. Thoth[]

Power Bomb Tanks[]

Power Bomb Tank 1[]

Outside the G.F.S. Thoth, Samus must run to the left end of the map. The Power Bomb Tank is located in a small room with a Hornoad, which happens to be where she is later infected by an X Parasite in Metroid Fusion.

Power Bomb Tank 2[]

This Tank is found on a cliff to the right of the G.F.S. Thoth. For context, an Anhur-class patrol ship can be seen in the background near this Tank.

Energy Tank[]

This Energy Tank is found in the last room of the G.F.S. Thoth, completely unguarded. However, after collecting it, Samus will have to fight Genesis.

Distribution Center[]

Upgrades[]

Screw Attack[]

From the top of the shaft next to the room with five Alpha Metroids, Samus must continue past a Save Station, down another short shaft and to the left, into another room with a powerless door. To reactivate it, Samus must insert a power cell into its socket. In the next room, she will be atop a platform made of Screw Attack Blocks, although it is partially made of Pit Blocks as well. Samus must allow herself to fall down through the Pit Blocks, and then again on another platform. The next room is a vertical shaft with three more floors of Screw Attack and Fake Blocks. Samus must shoot through them, being careful not to shoot any of the hovering robots that will send a load of shrapnel in all directions when destroyed. The Screw Attack is at the top of this shaft in a connecting room.

Gravity Suit[]

In the transport pipe room of the Distribution Center, one of the pipes leads up to a secret area with hexagonal electrical fields. These fields hamper Samus's weaponry and she must take advantage of spaces outside these fields to get ahead. In the final room of this area is a large capsule machine. Once Samus steps into it, the machine will close on her and upgrade her Varia Suit to the Gravity Suit. Notably, when the machine opens her suit will appear black and the accents a bright blue for a short period of time. This is a visual nod to Dark Samus.

Ice Beam[]

Using the transport pipe in the room where Samus acquires Power Bomb Tank 1, Samus must proceed through a few submerged rooms (requiring the Gravity Suit) until she reaches a shaft. She must descend the shaft and continue to the left until she reaches a vertical transport pipe. This will take her into a small corridor blocked by a Meboid hive, with a tunnel in the ceiling as with Power Bomb Tank 1. Behind the hive is a Chozo Statue room with the Ice Beam. Samus can then use the Ice Beam to destroy the Meboid hive, as well as Serris, which will spawn after she uses the transport pipe again.

Energy Tank[]

After the room where Super Missile Tank 2 is obtained, Samus will come to a small room with a floor made of Power Bomb Blocks. After she lays a Power Bomb, the floor will give way. The Energy Tank is in a small shaft below.

Missile Tanks[]

Missile Tank 1[]

In the first half of the large cavern outside the Distribution Center, the first Missile Tank is hidden within the ceiling. A well-placed Shinespark is needed to reach it. Samus must build up a speed charge, when she has the Gravity Suit, and stand on top of a slightly raised section of rock on the seafloor. Moheeks in the water may impede this and should be taken care of before attempting the Shinespark. If performed correctly, Samus will Shinespark right into the Missile Tank.

Missile Tank 2[]

One of the underwater corridors features several blockades of Boost Blocks. Once Samus has the Gravity Suit she can build up a speed charge and jump through most of them. This Missile Tank is on the floor in between two of them.

Missile Tank 3[]

In the lowest underwater corridor of the Distribution Center, this Tank is in plain sight.

Missile Tank 4[]

At the bottom of the shaft connected to the room where Samus fights Serris, Samus must proceed right, up a vertical tunnel using her Spider Ball. At the top to the right is a room filled with crates, with this Missile Tank clearly in view. Samus only needs to lay a Bomb to destroy a floor made of Bomb Blocks in order to reach it.

Missile Tank 5[]

The last Missile Tank is in the sub-area of the Distribution Center where the Gravity Suit is found, in one of the rooms before the suit installation device. The electrical field in the room means that Samus cannot use her Power Bombs unless she is outside the field or within one of two "safe zones", but she can obtain this Tank before the Gravity Suit. Simply laying a Power Bomb in one of the "safe zones" or outside the electrical field will expose the Missile Tank.

Super Missile Tanks[]

Super Missile Tank 1[]

This Tank is found in the corridor after the Distribution Center's activation device chamber. Samus must first speed run through five walls of Boost Blocks, and then drop below. She will then need to Screw Attack through a wall on the left. The Super Missile Tank is in a passage behind the blockade.

Super Missile Tank 2[]

In the same room as Missile Tank 3, Samus must build a speed charge and then Shinespark through the high part of the right wall, to enter a tunnel. From here she must speedrun again, and Shinespark through the ceiling. The Super Missile Tank is on the left.

Power Bomb Tanks[]

Power Bomb Tank 1[]

In one of the tall shafts within the center (connects to a room where five Alpha Metroids are fought at once) are three launchers protruding left. Samus must take the highest one to end up in a corridor obstructed by a Meboid hive. There is a Morph Ball tunnel in the ceiling that Samus can use to get past it. She must lay a Power Bomb to reveal a secret tunnel in the left wall, and then run until the Speed Booster activates. Samus should blast through a wall of Boost Blocks, and end up in front of the first Power Bomb Tank, in the hands of a Chozo Statue. Another launcher going downward is present in this room, but it should not be used until Samus has the Gravity Suit, since the destination area is underwater.

Power Bomb Tank 2[]

After re-emerging from the sub-area with the Gravity Suit, Samus must proceed through a large underwater room with spikes, and then up a vertical cave shaft directly outside the Distribution Center. The Tank is at the top of the center, behind Power Bomb Blocks.

S&R Hideout[]

Missile Tank[]

When Samus is moving through the caverns leading to the Alpha Metroid, this Tank is in the first room with lava. Samus must Bomb the bottom of the wall on the right to reach this Tank, which is in a tunnel.

Super Missile Tank[]

In the last room of the area, connected to the cavern where the first Omega Metroid is fought. This Missile can be accessed before fighting that Metroid, if desired.
