Bernadette LaCarte

Bernadette LaCarte is a multimedia artist with an extensive background in video game design. She worked as a principal artist at Retro Studios from June 1998 to June 2000. LaCarte conceptualized the original Metroid Prime user interface, which radically changed in the course of development. LaCarte is uncredited in the finished game. She provided the voice of Elise Riggs in SSX, while simultaneously working on the game as a visual artist.

After leaving Retro, LaCarte co-founded At Large Media in London, and served as its chief operating officer for two years. She has since worked as a lead artist at Sony Online Entertainment, designing the user interface of Star Wars Galaxies and its expansions, and as the art director of Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two at Junction Point Studios. She is currently a multimedia artist at Fugue, Inc., based out of Seattle.
