Hopper Mounds are round hives spawning Fire Hoppers in Metroid Prime: Federation Force. They can be destroyed and are not particularly robust like the Nests that breed other variants of the Hopper species. They are present at the end of M02: Hardball, outside of the cargo ship. They also appear in M09: Blender, spawning Fire Hoppers to distract the Federation Force from bringing the cart(s) to extraction. Unlike most Hopper Nests, they are attached to the ground as opposed to a high wall or ceiling (in both of the aforementioned missions, they are found in settings open to the sky).
