Jelsac

Jelsacs are aggressive, six-legged Phazon-based lifeforms found on the planet Phaaze in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. A Jelsac bears a slight resemblance to a crab, with two large claws in front and its eyes fixed in the carapace. Their behavior is to simply roam around a surface in a set path. If provoked by attacking or when an enemy draws too close, the large balloon-like sac on its back will fill with a highly poisonous and corrosive substance. Eventually, the Jelsac explodes, spraying the venom all over. Samus may safely trigger their self-destruct reaction prematurely by firing at the creature from afar with any of her weapons; enough damage delivered will cause the creature's defense mechanism to activate. Explosion at long range will not damage Samus, allowing her to avoid the severe damage from the blast. A Jelsac's explosion cannot blast through a thick wall; before explosion occurs, Samus has an opportunity to shield herself behind large cover. Using Hypermode can ensure quick safety altogether. Regardless is Samus was damaged or not, an explosion will always smear her Visor briefly. A direct hit from the Screw Attack will instantly eliminate the creature, preventing its explosion and reducing it to vapor.

Jelsacs have similar behavior and appearance to Seedlings, and name to Jelzap. They bear a somewhat strong resemblance to Powamps from Super Metroid; both creatures explode if shot at or when at close range. The Jelsac also has a slightly similar looking head and pair of round eyes as a Powamp.

If the G.F.S. Valhalla is explored before Samus collects the Seeker Launcher, Jelsacs will be found there as well.
