MP3-Roll-Jump

Roll Jump demonstration in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

A Roll Jump can be performed in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption to reach certain areas and items faster. It is performed by rolling off a ledge in Morph Ball form, then immediately unmorphing and doing a Space Jump, similar to a Bomb Space Jump. Either of these tricks must be done while the camera is obscuring Samus, or else there will be an unmorphing animation, and the trick will not be able to be performed. Sometimes, when she uses it, Samus will not make it to the platform she intends to go to, but will respawn on the ledge she intended to get to because she is close enough to the platform that the Terminal Fall zone is for the platform she intends to reach. This is most notably used in Watch Station Access to get to the other side without using the Grapple Beam, allowing Samus to get to the Screw Attack before fighting Dark Samus 2, or getting the Echo Visor.

Samus possesses a similar ability in Metroid and Metroid II: Return of Samus; when she rolls off a ledge in the Morph Ball and then unmorphs, if neither left nor right is being held, the Samus sprite will be in the standing pose, and she can jump once.
