Manthas are an unused species in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. An unused model and Logbook entry are present in the final game's files, along with sound effects and residual code. This species was likely intended to be frozen and used as a platform, given their flat upper side and weakness to cold. Unused code also indicates that they could be targeted with the Grapple Swing, similar to Gliders.
