Tinbots are androids that can be found at SkyTown on planet Elysia.
Description[]
Tinbots are weak enemies made with a lightweight metal that is vulnerable to heat, explosions, and high-speed impacts. Their weapons are kinetic beams that do little damage and just push Samus Aran backwards, and claws that are easily avoided. Both of the Tinbots' arms can be shot or bombed off, preventing it from swiping and/or shooting. If the laser weapon arm is knocked off, it cannot fire and will proceed to range closer for swiping or contact damage. If its swiping arm is blown off, it will constantly produce a stream of steam that will fog up Samus's visor briefly at mid-range. At closer ranges, the steam can both harm her and cause knockback, with damage piling up high the closer she is to the bot.
Tinbots can easily be destroyed by virtually any weapon. Samus can knock them over with a Missile, Charge Beam shot or the Boost Ball (knocking three over in one boost will earn the player a "Bowling for Bots" Friend Voucher). If a group of Tinbots are standing close enough together, several can be launched with a single shot. If defeated with the Plasma Beam or Nova Beam, they melt into a liquid puddle and disappear. The Screw Attack will instantly dismantle a Tinbot when contact is made.
Some Tinbots can enter Hypermode. Those that do become more durable and can no longer be melted. A Tinbot will spin erratically when entering Hypermode, and its blaster is capable of producing Phazon-based blasts at a rapid rate of fire. Hypermode tinbots exists within one room only.
Curiously, they possess a mounted launcher on their backs but are never seen using them at all. The similarly designed Steambots however utilize such an attachment.

Tinbot
Mechanoid: Tinbot
Lightweight android that is easily knocked down.
Tinbots are made from a lightweight metal and can easily be knocked around from explosions or high-speed impacts. This metal is also quite vulnerable to heat and can be melted by high-temperature weapons. Converted for security duty, the Tinbots now patrol SkyTown tirelessly. They are armed with kinetic-beam pistols and can use their tool-arms in close combat.
Trivia[]
- After the Ship Grapple is acquired and when Samus returns to Skybridge Athene, a Space Pirate ATC will fly in and attack the Tinbots, while they return fire. Shortly, their little "feud" ends and both factions attack Samus.
- If Samus gets behind a Tinbot, it will attempt to turn around and face her. If Samus doesn't move and is in the right position, the Tinbot will perform its arm swipe but not damage her. Because it was no longer walking when it turned around, the Tinbot can be caught in an infinite arm swipe cycle so long as Samus is stationary.
- Oddly when a Tinbot performs its arm swipe, its tiny head sensor temporarily vanishes.
