Prima Games is the leading publisher of video game strategy guides in North America. A division of Random House, their strategy guides feature in-depth walkthroughs that help players complete games, unlock achievements and locate collectible items. Prima has published many official guides for games in the Metroid series. After Nintendo Power ceased production, Prima has become the main publisher of Nintendo game strategy guides.
Prima has published Super Metroid Unauthorized Game Secrets (unofficial), Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion: Prima's Official Strategy Guide, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Premiere Edition, Metroid Prime Trilogy: Prima Official Game Guide, Metroid: Other M Premiere Edition and Metroid: Samus Returns Official Guide. Worthy of note is that the Prime and Fusion dual guide's prose was quite poor and knowledge of the lore was lacking, although these qualities have improved in later-released guides.
Prima has also published the Playing with Power! Nintendo NES Classics and Playing with Super Power: Nintendo Super NES Classics, the official guides for the NES Classic and the SNES Classic emulated game anthology system, which, while not directly covering any games in the Metroid franchise itself, does cover some tidbits for Metroid and Super Metroid, respectively.
The company was to close down by Spring 2019,[1] but the brand was acquired by Asteri Holdings on March 14, 2019[2]. It will now offer online strategy guides and gaming news.
