The concept art that names this.

Chozo marks (鳥人族マーク?)[1] are present in several forms on Samus Aran's Zero Suit.

All Chozo marks are light-pink outlined with dark pink. The symbol on the back of Samus' hand resembles a circle with two points protruding from the top and bottom, four rectangular lines circling it, and a zig-zag pattern on the circle. The breast sigil features a triangle pointing diagonally right down, with lines running below it, and another triangle pointing to the left.

These symbols play a role in the activation of the Power Suit. Four rectangular lights exist on the back, surrounding a middle circular one, and flash when the Power Suit is to be summoned. Next, a symbol on the back of Samus' left hand (the counterpart of the green orb on the back of her Power Suit) flashes while her arms cross her chest and she bows her head, before she looks up and unleashes a blast from a symbol on her left breast.

Trivia[]

  • Curiously, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Metroid Prime Hunters do not feature any Chozo marks on the Zero Suit. However when examining the Zero Suit's model in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, the Zero Suit has the marking that is present on her back. Strangely, the textures is exactly the same as Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
  • The breast Chozo mark is present on the Metroid: Other M Art Folio pocket.
  • Metroid: Other M's Gallery Mode suggests that the Chozo marks on Samus' back will glow strongly during intense situations.[2] Interestingly, while this effect is absent from gameplay, the cutscene in Sector Zero presents a shot of the symbol on Samus's hand glowing as she grabs a nearby surface to pull herself up. The cutscene occurs while Samus is struggling both physically and emotionally.
  • The breast Chozo mark vaguely resembles the written language of the Chozo in Metroid Prime, although there is no confirmed connection.
