Galactic Vortex X3316 Beta is a location within the Extreme Galaxy. This is an area not controlled by the Galactic Federation, leaving it conquerable by Greed and his minions. The planet Outlaw is found in this sector. The vortex is only acknowledged in Metroid EX, although the Tetra Galaxy in the canon Metroid Prime Hunters (and presumably other locations belonging to the Space Pirates and Kriken Empire) is also outside the Federation's control.
