It is possible to cross this room without the [[Grapple Beam]] and without entering the dark world equivalent by using an R-dash off of a [[maintenance unit]] to land on another maintenance unit, then perform another to land on the platform. However, it must be done when the maintenance unit is in a certain position, otherwise Samus will fall. if this happens, the jump can no longer be performed and the game must be reset.

Grand Abyss is a room in the Sanctuary Fortress of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. In the center of the room is a large pit that can only be crossed using the Screw Attack, or transversing through Dark Aether. The room contains many maintenance units. It is first entered from the Judgment Drop in the Ing Hive, the dark equivalent.
