Hard Core-X

The Hard Core-X (sometimes referred to as the Beam Core-X, Core-eye, or Eyeguy) is a subspecies of the Core-X found in Metroid Fusion.
A Hard Core-X is a Core-X which has absorbed Beam weapon technology. Unlike the standard Core-X, whose shell can be penetrated by missiles fired at certain intervals, a Beam Core-X is invulnerable (hence the name Hard Core-X). It pays for this by sacrificing movement speed, becoming much slower and more predictable, since it constantly moves toward Samus. However, it also is able to fire a beam (hence the name Beam Core-X) from an "eye" that will occasionally appear on its shell, pointing toward Samus. It will charge the beam for a few moments, fire, and then close the eye. When the eye appears, it can be shot with a missile; doing so will cause the beam to fire prematurely, but it will also damage the Core-X. Once it has taken enough damage, the shell will break and the X Parasite inside can be absorbed by Samus, who will then gain the beam the Core-X used against her.
