Two Phazon canisters aside a Pirate's corpse

Heavy Phazon Canisters are a common sight on the Space Pirate Homeworld, and are used to hold large quantities of Phazon. They are highly volatile and are usually seen being moved by Pirate Cargo Drones via a Grapple Beam-like device. They usually drop multiple Phazon Units when destroyed.

In Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, similar canisters were present in various locations, such as Dark Agon Wastes, Torvus Bog and Sanctuary Fortress. Destroying them in both games can be used as an advantage to Samus, as she can fire at them when Space Pirates are nearby. Standing next to one when destroying it causes major damage to her.
