Hunter License

Hunter License

The Hunter License (also referred to as a Hunters License by Richard Vorodi) is only seen in the Edit Friends and Rivals section of Metroid Prime Hunters' multiplayer Wi-Fi menu. It keeps track of a player's statistics.

Stats[]

The license keeps track of a player's hunter of choice, wi-fi win record, wireless win record, connection history, win ratio, win streak, lucky arena, favorite weapon, Headshot kills, favorite mode, biped kills, Alt-Form kills, kill streak, wi-fi play time, wireless play time, total game time and hunter rank. The license has a different colored tip depending upon a player's location: blue for America and Australia, green for Europe and red for Japan.

Connection History[]

We track a stat that the game calls Connection Percentage, but that I've been calling the Chump Meter. It keeps track of anyone who boots off. So, if I'm beating some kid and he tries to disconnect to avoid the loss, he'll be punished for that. When he turns the game back on, the game will know what happened and it will then hand out some Chump Points.

So basically, your Connection Percentage starts to lower. Everyone starts out on the same page with 100%, and as you disconnect the percentage will lower. Before you start a game with someone you can see the Connection Percentage and decide if you want to play with that person. But the cool thing is that if you get ejected from legitimately losing your connection, it won't affect your Connection Percentage.

Richard Vorodi

One of the statistics on the Hunter License is a player's Connection History (also known as the Connection Percentage), which is an estimate of how many matches a player has disconnected from to avoid losing, or "rage quitting". The rating starts at 100% for each player, and decreases with every intentional disconnection. Other players can see the Connection Histories of potential competitors and decide if they'd like to play with that person or not. Legitimate disconnections, such as loss of an internet connection, do not negatively affect the percentage.

Richard Vorodi, the game's senior designer, refers to the Connection History as the Chump Meter.[1]

Hunter Ranks[]

There are five ranks that can be put on the license, each requiring a set amount of ranking points to reach except for the beginning rank. The first rank is the Bounty Hunter and is shown by one red star. The second rank is the Super Hunter obtained at 40 ranking points and is shown by two brown stars. The third rank is the Elite Hunter obtained at 140 ranking points and is shown by three silver stars. The fourth rank is the Master Hunter obtained at 390 ranking points and is shown by four gold stars. The final rank is the Legendary Hunter obtained at 750 ranking points and turns the license gold with five black stars.

Single Player Completion Icons[]

There are two icons that can be gained for the Hunter license through single player completion: the Alimbic swirl and the Octolith. The Alimbic swirl is a bluish icon that represents the swirl symbol seen on the Adventure Mode icon on the main menu. This is obtained by completing the game through Gorea's final form. Once a player completes the single player with 100%, the Octolith will replace the swirl on the Hunter license.

Other Achievements[]

  • A Bronze Screw Attack symbol appears in the upper left corner of the license when a player wins 25 matches.
  • A Silver Screw Attack symbol appears in the upper left corner of the license when a player wins 100 matches. This will replace the Bronze symbol.
  • A Gold Screw Attack symbol appears in the upper left corner of the license when a player wins 200 matches. This will replace the Silver symbol.
  • A player will earn a larger license for playing over 500 matches.

Glitches[]

  • Setting the name on the License as %e will turn it into a mess of (X is a number) X.XXXXXXe-XXX, rapidly changing numbers.
  • Setting it as %n will either crash the game every time the Hunter License is entered, with crazy glitching, or brick the cartridge. One should only use %n if they are not worried about breaking the game.
