Hydrodynamo Station is a room in the Torvus Bog in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It is a large, cylindrical room that features four platforms that rotate around the central pillar. The top of the room houses two uniquely shaped door devices that release Preed into the room; these devices can be destroyed by Missile fire. Half of this room is flooded, requiring Samus to travel underwater. Several locks exist in the underwater area of the room; they must be scanned from behind to lift them and allow Samus to enter the Hydrodynamo Shaft. Samus must traverse through the connecting rooms to gain access to these locks. A Morph Ball chamber exists halfway underwater that allows Samus to easily reach the top of the room. However, this chamber becomes unusable once all three locks become active, as part of the center pillar raises its lower cylindrical portion blocking the Morph Ball chamber's entry points.

The Dark Aether version of this room was the Undertemple Shaft.

Connecting rooms[]

Inhabitants[]

Preed (spawning from two hives, only 2 max at any time)
"Morphology: Preed
Toxic gas-filled cybernetic bioform.
Engage target at range if possible. Destruction of outer body will release a highly toxic cloud."
2 Bloggs (first visit)
"Morphology: Blogg
Incredibly durable aquatic predator.
Powerful, fast-moving water dweller. Outer hide is impervious; heavy weapon hits will only aggravate it. Its mouth, however, is vulnerable to damage."
4 Blogglings (on later visits)
"Morphology: Bloggling
Youthful, aggressive Blogg.
Violent infant creature. Will use a ram attack if provoked."

Scans[]

Recommend scanning object from close range to counter the interference."
Control pillar (wrong side)
"Unable to scan target. Local interference blocking Scan Visor.
Recommend scanning object from opposite ide to gain a direct connection. The ledge it is on cannot be reached from this area; seek an alternate route."
Control pillar

Security lock disengaged.
Disengage all locks to gain access to secure area."
Morph Ball Door
"Structural analysis complete.
Exit point for Central Flow Chamber. Exit is one way only; unable to access from this area."

Items[]

Missile Expansion
This item lies in front of a Multi-Lock Blast Shield.

Trivia[]

  • Humorously, if a Blogg comes in contact with a lock when it is lifting, it will be instantaneously destroyed.
  • In addition, a Blogg can die if it comes into contact with a flipped over Concealed Movement Pad.
  • A door lock is present on the door leading to the Save Station. It is unknown as to why this is present as it appears to be unused ingame at all. It is possible this may have been intended to be used after the third lock was lifted. Ingame, it is impossible to climb up to the Save Station immediately after the third lock has been activated.
  • Also seen within Prime World Editor, this room's list of connecting rooms lists the Undertemple Shaft as a connecting room, suggesting a Portal may have been once present connecting these two rooms.
    • Prime World Editor reveals a virtual dock located in an off-screen area close to the door leading to Underground Transport. A similar virtual dock is found in the exact same spot in the Undertemple Shaft, suggesting these virtual docks may have been the Portals' areas, possibly in an altered layout of the room during development.
