Kenji Imai

Nintendo Official Guide Book for Super Metroid

Kenji Imai (born May 27, 1959 in Kyoto, Japan) is a Japanese programmer at Intelligent Systems. Imai was a programmer for both Metroid and Super Metroid. For Super Metroid, he created Kraid, Crocomire and the Map. He had also worked on another Nintendo game, F-1 Race, which features Samus Aran in a cameo. In Metroid, he is credited as M. Houdai.

In the developer interview, Imai stated that his favorite film is Ryuume ga iku (The Dragon Horse Comes), while his favorite musician is Simon and Garfunkle. His Super Metroid clear time was about 3 hours.

Imai is now a production manager who has overseen several Fire Emblem games. He was most recently credited under special thanks in Code Name: S.T.E.A.M..
