Mekenobites are mechanoids found in the Sanctuary Fortress area of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

Description[]

Mekenobites were created by the Luminoth for the purpose of patrolling the Sanctuary Fortress. Like the other robots in the fortress, they have apparently gone rogue.

Mekenobites each have a pair of spindly, flexible legs, and use magnetism to hang from ceilings. They can fire projectiles using a magnetic accelerator at its target. They are invulnerable to most forms of attack. Initially, the only way to kill them is to target both its legs at the same time with the Seeker Missile; the two Missiles will detach both its legs from the ceiling, causing it to drop and self-destruct. Once Samus obtains the Screw Attack, she can dispatch the mechanoid with one hit.

They first appear in the Sanctuary Temple on Samus Aran's second visit and often shake the platforms, trying to knock its target off. They are also found in the Sentinel's Path.

Kenobite

Untextured Kenobite model, heavily resembling a Mekenobite.

There is an unused creature in the internal data of Echoes called a Kenobite, likely a basis for the mechanical version seen in the final game.[1] Its model can be found in the files of the Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Bonus Disc, but it has no textures.
