Energy, or Life Energy, refers to the life-force or durability of a being. Metroids are able to draw pure energy from their prey. In Super Metroid and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Space Pirates, Galactic Federation Marines, and random wildlife can be found with their "life energy" drained, likely by Metroids. The brittle remains crumble to dust on contact. This gives an indication as to what happens to something with its energy drained. Oddly, in Super Metroid, even a Torizo is found drained of energy, despite being largely mechanical.
