Lore

Lore is a collection of writings depicting past and sometimes ongoing events of an intelligent species. Lore is found throughout the Metroid Prime Trilogy. Some pieces of lore also talk about the planet itself. Lore is often found by using the Scan Visor on something, mainly engravings.

Variations

Metroid Prime

• Chozo Lore is found throughout areas of Tallon IV that the Chozo inhabited (mainly the Chozo Ruins). It summarizes the arrival of the Chozo on Tallon IV after leaving SkyTown, up to the coming of the Worm, the Great Poison, and the construction of the Cradle.
• Pirate Data is first found in Prime, in areas populated by Space Pirates. The first data entry summarizes the destruction of Tourian in Metroid, before it goes off into the discovery of Phazon and later mentions of Samus Aran.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

• Trooper Logs are log entries that can mostly be recovered from their Power Suits, which talk about relationships between the Marines and the Dark Splinter invasion that killed them all.
• Space Pirate Logs serve the same purpose as Pirate Data in the first game. Most logs talk about Dark Samus, who invaded the Space Pirate base and caused them to mistake her for the real Samus.
• Luminoth Lore entries vary. Some entries are about the history of Aether. Other writings in this category are entries from the now deceased Keybearers and A-Kul's clues as to the location of their Sky Temple Keys.

Metroid Prime Hunters

• Alimbic Lore entries are very short compared to writings of other sentient races. Most Lore has instructions on how to open the Infinity Void and summaries about the imprisonment of Gorea. It is the only kind of Lore present in the game.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

• Galactic Federation Data is found in various Galactic Federation strongholds on the various planets Samus explores. Lore entries talk about Phazon, the Phazon Enhancement Device program, the Federation Solar System's planets, the three rival Bounty Hunters and lastly the events on Tallon IV, Aether and the G.F.S. Valhalla.
• Bryyo Data is written by The Last Lord of Science during his final moments, each entry having been placed around Bryyo by the prophetess. It is entirely about the wars that wrecked Bryyo prior to the arrival of Samus.
• SkyTown Data entries were written by an Elysian shortly before becoming corrupted into helping the invading Space Pirates. It summarizes the history of the SkyTown fortress on Elysia. SkyTown Data is obtained by shooting Databots scattered around Elysia, then scanning them.
• Space Pirate Data returns once again, and writes about ongoing events throughout Samus' final mission in the Phazon crisis.
