This article is about the room. For the Energy Controller itself, see Main Energy Controller.

The Main Energy Controller is a major room in the Great Temple. It appears in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

Description[]

This spacious room houses the Planetary energy of the Temple Grounds, and perhaps all of Aether itself. Small gates allow for viewing the outside. Aside from the eponymous Main Energy Controller itself, this room is the location of U-Mos, the last active member of the Luminoth species, as well as a Luminoth Lore Projector containing the Origins entry, and (after the energy network is restored) the Light Suit and an access point for Aether's light-based teleportation system. It is here where the conflict between Luminoth and Ing is explained, and where Samus receives the first upgrade to her Translator Module.

Its Dark Aether counterpart is the Sky Temple Energy Controller, although due to the inverted nature of the Sky Temple it actually occupies the same space as the Sanctum.

Trivia[]

  • This room's internal name is08_temple_sungenerator.
  • If Sequence Breaking was used to skip the first encounter with U-Mos, then if Samus restores the Energy Controllers in reverse order, when Samus enters this room for the first time, all 4 cutscenes will be loaded into the room. This Sequence Break can cause two U-Mos to appear and have multiple text lines loaded into his optional speech scene. A similar text glitch can occur with Aurora Unit 217's dialogue in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.
    • If the text is manipulated in a certain order, camera angles may change during the cutscenes. In one cutscene, one can see U-mos's feet clip through the floor. This is normally unseen as the normal cutscene(s) tend to focus on his upper half where necessary.
  • Very curiously, one of this room's connecting rooms is the Sky Temple Energy Controller, heavily suggesting that a Portal once connected these two rooms together. Given how the Save Station is located in the far back of the latter room, there is a small possibility that the Save Station may have been a Portal during development, but was likely changed for unknown reasons (possibly gameplay related).
