The Meson Bomb Launcher is a weapon featured in Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. It is first used by Meta Ridley during the boss fight with him on the Artifact Temple. Meta Ridley throws them by flying over the temple, dropping them as he moves. They are capable of taking out entire Chozo Totems (if hit consecutively).

Meta Ridley's highly corrupted form, Omega Ridley, also uses this attack during the battle within the Leviathan on the Pirate Homeworld. He drops them as he flies in a circular pattern inside the Phazon Core's chamber.

In Metroid Prime Pinball, Meta Ridley will constantly fly down to the closest ball (to the top of the Artifact Temple) and drop three bombs in the area of it, then fly back up off-screen and repeat. These have the same sound-effect as in Prime. Metroid Prime will fire 6 of these same bombs (3 on each side but without the sound-effect) that will target onto Samus and partially track her.
