Metroid Prime is encountered.

Much like the Super Metroid comic, Nintendo Power also ran a series following the events of the first Metroid Prime. It deviated occassionally from the game's storyline--Thardus, for instance, was encountered in the Chozo Ruins and guarded a Chozo Artifact rather than the Spider Ball. Meta Ridley lacks his trademark head-crest and is easily defeated by the Flamethrower, despite being almost immune to the weapon ingame (save for the wings, the chest, and the mouth at certain points). Samus also comes across Metroids aboard the Orpheon--scans show that they were there ingame at one point, but moved by the time the Bounty Hunter arrived. Samus also exclaims that Zebes was destroyed two years prior, but the context in which it was said is likely referring to the base there (with a little foreshadowing).
