Private First Class E. Denys was a Galactic Federation Trooper in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. Denys was the last of the known Troopers to die on Aether. The trooper was one of those in Force Two, sent to set up a base unknowingly near a Splinter Hive. It is unknown who or what Denys' killer was, although the Logbook entry seems to imply that the trooper may not have had the opportunity to identify his attacker. It is possible that it was a War Wasp, which had likely instantly killed him by lethal stinger blast, as the Logbook entry and Denys's position after death suggests he or she was looking into a hole leading into a room which, when Samus explores it, proves to contain War Wasps.

Logbook entry

I'm the only one left. Managed to get out of the hive, but when I got to the ship, everyone was gone...dead. I'm heading for that alien building we saw earlier. Maybe someone can help me there... Wait, something's moving down there. Hello...?

Non-canon warning: This article or section contains information that may not be considered an official part of the Metroid series in the overall storyline by Nintendo.

In the beta, Denys' name was R. Harris. This is likely a reference to Ryan Harris, an assisting producer of the Prime Series. R. Harris' unused logbook entry seems to imply that he saw a Luminoth, likely the one whose corpse is found in the Sacred Path.

Logbook entry

This bridge should be secure. The only person able to operate it was that alien that came down here earlier, and it's dead. Just as well; the last thing we need is another way those things can get to us and attack.

TriviaEdit

  • A careful inspection of Denys reveals that, unlike the other dead Marines, his assault rifle is missing. How he lost his weapon is unknown, as is how he was able to enter through the door to the Sacred Bridge without it.
  • How long Denys survived for is unclear. Scans of the Splinter bodies in the hive reveal that some of them were killed recently, leading to the conclusion that Denys was killed only a short while before Samus arrived.
