The Phazon Elite, also known as Elite Pirate Alpha, is one of four mini bosses in Phazon Mines in Metroid Prime. He is the first experiment with Phazon the Space Pirates carried out. Samus fought and killed him during the misson on Tallon IV. He guards one of the Chozo Artifacts found in Phazon Mines, the Artifact of Warrior, which Samus needed to get to the Impact Crater at the end of her mission. Unlike the Elite and Omega Pirates, the Phazon Elite does not wield a Plasma Artillery Cannon, but still has the Energy Siphon used by all Elite Pirates, as well as the Wave Quake Generators. The Phazon Elite appears moreso infused with Phazon than any other Elite Pirate, with sickly Phazon plates and veins all over his body.

'Morphology': "Phazon Elite, Elite Pirate infused with energized Phazon. The Phazon-charged Elite Pirates rely more on their Wave Quake Generators, opting not to carry the vulnerable Plasma Artillery Cannons normally used by Elites. The direct fusing of Phazon into their bodies provides a tremendous level of energy. The drastically lower life span that comes with this process is of little concern to the Pirate Research team."
