Prime trilogy

Prime is the name given to the game in the Metroid games that are first-person shooters, as opposed to actually seeing Samus Aran on-screen. In some Prime games, that player always has the Charge Beam and Morph Ball mode, as opposed to the other games in which these must be acquired. Also, each main Prime game to date ( Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption) have featured an encounter with Phazon. The being Dark Samus, the last remnants of the titular Metroid Prime, is finally destroyed in Metroid Prime 3 for the Nintendo Wii along with all Phazon. The currently released Prime games are:
Additionally, there is a semi-retelling of the first Prime known as Metroid Prime Pinball, though this is not a FPS or officially part of the series.
