The Pulse Bombu is a creature that consists entirely of raw electricity. It glows as it floats through the air. It periodically releases explosive segments from its body and lacks any intelligence other than an instinctive attraction to charged energy sources.
Samus encounters Pulse Bombus in the Chozo Ruins, Phendrana Drifts, and the Phazon Mines on Tallon IV. They pose no threat to her, though they will occasionally release explosive segments which will cause damage to her. They can only be damaged by electrical energy, requiring Samus to use her Wave Beam on them. However, if she charges her Wave Beam, due to their attraction to charged electrical energy sources, they will instinctively fly straight at her, damaging her on contact. To prevent this, she simply has to avoid using the Charge Beam near them.
A robotic version created by the Luminoth appears in Metroid Prime 2. It is known as the Harmony Class Drone. It behaves and is similar in appearance to the Pulse Bombus.
Morphology: Pulse Bombu
Life-form of raw energy. Periodically releases explosive segments from its body.
Pulse Bombus are energy beings, invulnerable to most known weapons. Electrical energy can harm them, however. They lack any intelligence beyond an instinctive attraction to other charged energy sources. Pulse Bombus produce energy constantly. All excess energy is shed, regardless of who or what may be nearby.
"The Pulse Bombu floats through life, periodically releasing explosive segments from its body. It lacks any intelligence beyond an instinctive attraction to other charged energy sources.
The Pulse Bombu consists entirely of raw electricity. It appears to glow as it floats gracefully through the air."
- The Pulse Bombus located in the Sun Tower Access in Chozo Ruins and the Gravity Chamber in Phendrana Drifts can be destroyed if they make contact with the water. This is made possible if Samus uses her Charge Beam while she is under water at the time.
