Quadtroids are an enemy species that appears in Metroid Prime Hunters.

They were genetically engineered (presumably by the Alimbic) from leech and reptile DNA. They can crawl on almost any surface, including metal and ice, and is capable of sucking biological energy from their prey. They seek out such energy, as it is their only food source. A Morph Ball Bomb is the only thing capable of shaking their grasp once they lock on to a target.

Quadtroids look and move very differently from the Metroids Samus is familiar with, but are in many ways the same. In the games, both latch on to Samus and drain her energy, and can only be dislodged by a bomb. Also, both were genetically engineered (the Metroids were created by the Chozo to fight the X Parasites), and both species' names end in "troid". The significance of these similarities is unknown, as the species come from different galaxies. They have no significant weakness to any of the weapons Samus aquires during the events of Metroid Prime Hunters, and are small enough to fit in areas where Samus uses her Morph Ball, such as when Samus encounters them in the Vesper Defense Outposts Weapons Complex. It can be inferred from their appearance on the icy planet Arcterra that they do not share the Metroid vulnerability to cold.

Their purpose is unknown, though the Alimbic may have created them to either serve a function similar to that of Metroids or as an attempt to fight off Gorea.

They are of similar appearance to a Phazon Grub, the offspring of Liquid Phazon.
