SSN is a news channel seen in Samus and Joey. Joey and Diesel watch a broadcast revealing that the Special Forces Ship Otowa has gone missing, and discover that Joey's mother, Diana Apronika, was onboard. The news anchor is an alien creature with what appears to be five eyes, although two might be a pair of spectacles, and fins on either side of its head. The anchor wears a suit and sits in front of a swirling vortex background, reporting on the disappearance of the President of Kankeh, also aboard the Otowa.

The name may have been based on CNN, an American-based international news corporation, or any number of other news broadcasting corporations with acronym names.
