Scan Points (also known as Scan Cursors or Scan Targets) appear when using the Scan Visor in Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime Hunters. A Scan Point is a square icon that is color-coded. Environment objects have an orange Scan Point, while mission-critical objects such as Interface Modules will have a red Scan Point. Already scanned Points are blurred in color and slightly transparent. Both have a small, Chozo Artifact-like symbol on them, and will represent what objects can be scanned in the area. They are retained in the New Play Control! and Metroid Prime Trilogy versions of Prime despite the Scan Visor reticule undergoing an appearance change.
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption color-code the entire object instead of laying a Sight Window over it. Blue represents normal objects, red represents mission critical objects and green represents already scanned objects.
