Space Torches were found by Joey in the remains of Dragüd's Ship. He attached four to his back, one on either side of his head, and held one in each hand while he used the jet-propelled roller skates that are built into his shoes to create a more desirable energy source for the Megaroid eggs that were attacking the Liberty villagers. He later abandons them as he leads the Megaroids to Mount Pagos. Presumably, they function in space as well.
