I found an image in Google Images when I typed "metroid prime chozo words." It's on the first page. It's from Metroid Database, but I was unable to add the picture. If anyone else could add the picture, then we would have one from Metroid Prime. Metroid Fan 17:20, June 29, 2010 (UTC)

How do we know it's Chozo letters on her gunship? Dazuro 04:25, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

RBX is making this up. He didn't supply any evidence that "similar hieroglyphs are found in Chozodia" and decided to merge these articles without discussion. ChozoBoy (Talk/Contribs) 13:31, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
Why are you always lying about me? It's getting annoying. If you look here, you'll see in the image that AS provided that the glyphs are present in Chozodia. --RoyboyX 13:39, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
Tell me, which of Other M's glyphs appear in that picture? I don't see any of them. I didn't lie either. ChozoBoy (Talk/Contribs) 13:53, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Do they appear similar to the glyphs that are UMS 9? Yes. Does that indicate that the UMS 9 language on Samus' ship/loading text is Chozo? Yes. --RoyboyX 13:54, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

No, "similar" does not cut it. Those in the foreground don't even use the same 5x5 pixel setup. Fortunately, I have found some of them in the background that aren't immediately obvious. You have to create a solid argument before making a decision on your own next time. ChozoBoy (Talk/Contribs) 13:58, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Hm, where have I heard that before... --RoyboyX 13:59, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

I've probably asked you several times already. Please keep the discussion to the subject. ChozoBoy (Talk/Contribs) 14:08, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

I figured I'd make some major changes and include a new image. The article appears more condensed and clean, and I added new data regarding the Chozo hieroglyphs on planet ZDR. BlutrauschSSB (talk) 22:52, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

UMS 9 discussion[]

Note: the following discussion has been preserved from the talk page for UMS 9 (Metroid: Other M), later merged with Chozo (Language), before it became a page again for a different subject that would later become Piece of piano music.

How is a written language considered a ship item? And it's stated on the Chozo language page that hieroglyphics by the Chozo are on her ship. --RoyboyX 15:55, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

Then remove the speculation. ChozoBoy (Talk/Contribs) 16:25, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

The ship was Chozo based, you know. --RoyboyX 16:49, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

This is the Chozo language. It appears on the walls of the Chozo temples in Zero Mission.--AdmiralSakai 18:38, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

That is speculation as well, RBX. Other factions are said to have contributed to it like the GF, but not Chozo. They are only stated to have built the suit. Her ship is not even seen until the Chozo have disappeared. She has to steal one in the manga.
AS, Provide an image. I don't recall what those hieroglyphs looked like, exactly. ChozoBoy (Talk/Contribs) 18:58, September 4, 2010 (UTC)
The most obvious heiroglyphics are also the hardest to see in this picture. Look on the horizontal borders of the fighting chozo picture Samus is standing in front of, where it fades into the darker sections. There are similar patterns on the columns and walls, but they aren't exactly the same as the text- some are much larger:

--AdmiralSakai 02:01, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

Possibility of being decor, aside, those are Hieroglyphics by definition. there isn't a great deal of debating to be done, outside of: are they Glyphs? Or Decor? --Piratehunter{ADMIN} (TalkContribsLogs) - Wanna see something really scary? (New Forums!)19:35, September 6, 2010 (UTC)

Completely sure they're the language. They are used as a language in Other M, and they also appear as the descriptions for the unknown items on the Status Screen.--AdmiralSakai 23:33, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

Metroid Dread language insights[]

So Dread has told us a lot about the Chozo language - now know a second alphabet, new words, and even a semblance of a grammar structure and phonology. How much of that information should we include on this page? Should we make Chozo-English dictionary page?

Dread ChozoCipher

Dread Chozo cipher

Also, I put together this slick cipher thanks to @TorvusBolt on twitter. Is it worth putting in the gallery? Unknowni123 (talk) 23:51, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

I think a sub-page might be appropriate for documenting Chozo words, and I'd definitely like to have that info on the wiki where it can be communally researched and refined- however, I am worried about the lack of agreement on spellings and word boundaries. So far, I've seen 3 people attempt transcriptions of Chozo speech, and all 3 have come to different conclusions about various words. For lack of concrete answers, I could see it descending into a lot of back-and-forth editing.
As far as the cipher, I've already included TorvusBolt's original image in the article, and I think it's worth preserving the information about which glyphs are still uncertain. If we get confirmation that everything is correct, though, your image is pretty much exactly what I was thinking we should have. Bearborg[ADMIN] (talk) 00:59, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
I see. Thanks for the info. This is quite a touchy process indeed, it may take years before we agree on something if no official material gets out. BTW, I have the raw voice files uploaded on Youtube here in case anyone wants them for a closer listen to the language. Unknowni123 (talk) 02:26, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
Oh nice, I was using the raw voice files for my analysis too, but it's good to have them up publicly somewhere. I'm wondering if we should include some voice audio in the article as well- for the phonemes section particularly, it would probably be useful to include the words being used as examples.
As a side note, have you considered joining the Discord? You seem to be pretty active, and we're doing a fair amount of coordinating there since there's so much new content to document. Bearborg[ADMIN] (talk) 03:12, 18 October 2021 (UTC)

Chozo vocalization[]

This is total speculation so I didn't want to put it in the article, but I noticed that all the Chozo's voices are kinda raspy and inhuman sounding. This makes me wonder if their voice effects are based on real birds mimicking speech, since they also have that raspy sound. From a quick wikipedia search, this is because their bodies use a syrinx to produce sounds rather than a larynx like a human. Just thought this was a fun detail to point out.
