Name[]

Where did the name come from? --RoyboyX 19:04, January 23, 2010 (UTC)

I've checked all available sources of print for the name 'Fake Chozo Statue' and all I got was 'Chozo Statue', 'statue' and 'Elephant Bird'. I'm afraid we may have to go with the latter. --РoйбoйX (TalkContribsUN) 13:48, May 7, 2011 (UTC)

"Elephant Bird" is a mistranslation. The Japanese name for this creature is simply 鳥人像 "Chōjin-zō", meaning "Birdman Image" or, as commonly translated, Chozo Statue. However, "Zō" also means "elephant" in Japanese, with a similar kanji, 象. It's a mistranslation by Prima. 82.34.188.143 14:26, April 19, 2014 (UTC)
That may be true, but Varia Suit was also a mistranslation. I'm detagging this of Unverified Name, but I'll add your note. RoyboyX(complaints/records) 20:36, May 4, 2014 (UTC)

Merge?[]

Considering that this creature is named identically to a Torizo in Japanese, why are we keeping it under an unofficial mistranslation? We don't separate other species that were mistranslated or retranslated throughout the years. This guy should just be a subsection on Torizo. Yes yes, "this is the English wiki not the Japanese one," but it's absolutely, unambiguously a mistake by a third party, rather than a localization change. Dazuro (talk) 16:22, May 13, 2018 (UTC)
