Golden Shield

A telekinetic barrier is a special type of indestructible barrier that appears on certain Doors within Aether. They trigger when Samus Aran attempts to leave the area that she is in, without either returning Energy to the nearby Energy Controller, or without talking to U-Mos in the Great Temple. They are semi-transparent, golden-crusted shields pulsating with light energy that cover the doors and prevent Samus from leaving. The barriers remove once Samus's assigned task has been accomplished (returning the Planetary Energy or talking to U-Mos respectively). When seen from the front, a Telekinetic barrier's tip fittingly resembles the shape of an Energy Controller. They also bear a slight resemblance to an Ing Webtrap, both serving a similar role in blocking doors.

Scans[]

"The energy of (area)* cannot leave the land it is bound to. Return the energy to the (area)* Temple."

* Area named in scan differs.

"Object analysis complete.
The door is blocked.
A telekinetic barrier is present; its mental signature is similar to that of the Luminoth."

Trivia[]

  • The Barriers are one-sided, they have no backside and appear invisible if seen from the back.
  • When a Barrier pulsates, it releases light energy at one interval, followed by three consecutive intervals before repeating. Coupled with its design, this detail may reference the Great Temple's Energy Controller, followed by the Energy Controllers of Agon, Torvus, and Sanctuary.
  • Internal data lists their name as Luminoth Door Barrier.
  • When Samus acquires the Agon's Planetary energy, only the main entrance to the Temple Grounds elevator is blocked. Doors leading to Torvus Bog and Sanctuary Fortress remain unblocked. Using Sequence Breaking, Samus can exit into any of these two areas while still having Agon's energy. In an identical scenario, Samus can escape with Torvus's energy because the elevator to Sanctuary Fortress is not blocked by a Telekinetic barrier. This is because normally, Samus wouldn't have the means to destroy the blast shields around these doors at those specified times. The same is somewhat true for the doors within the Temple Sanctuary, as these barriers can be bypassed around using Sequence Breaking.
