Tomoyoshi Yamane

Tomoyoshi Yamane (Tomomi in kanji, born January 2, 1968 in Yamaguchi Prefecture) is a Japanese graphic designer who designed Samus Aran's now iconic Varia Suit in Metroid II: Return of Samus. He was also a graphics artist for Super Metroid. He designed the opening and ending of Super Metroid, enemies, boss designs and face retouching. He also redesigned Mother Brain from her initial "old lady" appearance. When Samus' brief nudity during the Game Over sequence was opted against, he had fixed the issue.[1] Yamane was later the visual director of Metroid Fusion, as well as a game designer and enemy character designer for the game. As an original designer of Samus's iconic Varia Suit appearance that originated in Metroid II, Yamane was the supervisor for her model in Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.
