Hive Mecha Battle,[1] also known as VS. Hive Totem (VS.ハイブトーテム?),[2] is the theme for the Hive Mecha and Incinerator Drone battles in Metroid Prime. It was remixed in Metroid Prime Pinball, and this new version is heard during the Parasite Purge and Burrower Bash Mini-Games.

The song opens up with a low choir chanting three times, and then the choir chanting repeatedly in multiple pitches in the background while beats are heard. The Incinerator Drone version omits the opening chorus.

Hive Mecha Battle is unlockable at random in the Soundtrack Gallery of Metroid Prime Remastered. It was used twice in the remaster's Overview Trailer. The "choir chanting" (as described by the YouTube upload's closed captioning) is combined with Flaahgra's drumbeat in Metroid Prime Remastered - Accolades Trailer.

The theme from Prime can be heard here, and the theme from Pinball here.

Trivia[]

  • The theme may have been planned for the Metaforce Retro Studios prototype during the BloodMonkey encounter, as the in-game files for the portion where Samus fights against the Incinerator Drone lists the theme as "rui_monkeylower".
