Virginia Aran was the mother of Samus Aran, and shared the parent role with Rodney Aran, Samus's father. Her death came when she tried to protect Samus from Ridley. The diversion she created bought child Samus just enough time to run away. Virginia herself was killed by Ridley's plasma breath. Later in the manga, Ridley mentioned that he ate dead human bodies in K-2L to heal himself by devouring their cells. He also mentions that he possibly ate Virginia too and that there may be her cells in his body. Virginia was seen only in the Metroid E-manga, the Japanese version of Metroid Fusion, and Metroid Zero Mission.
