"The VOLT DRIVER draws energy from the planetary electromagnetic field and converts it into multi-terawatt bursts of HIGH-VOLTAGE." -Metroid Prime: Hunters Logbook Entry

The Volt Driver is an additional weapon system for the arm cannon. It fires quick-moving electrical blasts with a fast rate of fire and spray capability. When fully charged, the weapon fires a large, slow-moving explosive sphere of energy that causes massive damage to a target. When used by the bounty hunter Kanden, the Volt Driver's charge blast homes in on a target and temporarily disrupts the visor of whoever it hits.

[edit] Multiplayer Role

The Volt Diver has a semi-automatic firing mode, which slows it down considerably. However, it's still pretty fast, making it adequate for close and medium range combat. Despite this, it is still best used with Kanden. After you hit a target with the charged blast, you can fire at them while they wait for the effects to wear off (the Volt Driver's charged blast severely hinders movement), or ready another charge blast for when they can see you again (usually represented by increased accuracy). Also, if you use it as Kanden and you and the target are near a place where somebody can fall into space, use it on someone and the target might accidentally walk off the cliff because of their blurry vision.
