Yase Sobajima is a former programmer at Nintendo in Japan. He was a programmer for the original Metroid, as well as the NES games Soccer, Wrecking Crew and Famicom Wars (the latter of which featured Samus in her earliest cameo appearance). In Metroid, he is credited as Zaru Sobajima. Sobajima has not been credited in a game since, and has most likely retired from Nintendo.
